Close-up of the arthritic hands of Mrs Cecilia Bochenek (?-1981), founder of the Horder Centre, on the day that Princess Margaret came to open the centre on 27 October 1966. Despite being crippled by arthritis and confined to a wheelchair, Mrs Bochenek and her friend, Dr Joyce Peake, set up the Horder recuperative home at Crowborough in East Sussex, specifically for people with arthritis. The centre was named after Lord Horder of Ashford who became the first President. Date: 1966
