Pinus longaeva
Great basin bristlecone pine trees (Pinus longaeva). This species is one of a group of pines which can reach an age far greater than any other single organism known, up to nearly 5, 000 years. These trees are frequently struck by lightning, causing damage to their trunks, as seen here. Photographed in July at around 3000 metres, in the White Mountains, California, USA
